A beautiful and worthy road bike

The bike is very light for the steel frame and handles like a dream on the road. The down tube gear shift is very responsive and smooth, although you do need to be careful you don’t get your fingers stuck in the wheel. Frame design and build are impeccable - you can tell that SBC put a lot of love into this bike! It’s a joy to ride and I’m absolutely hooked! For the price, you couldn’t ask for a better bike!

Nice bike

I've only been able to take it for one short ride so far.
First off, I love the road feel, really evokes my circa-1985 Somec.
(My child was concerned about the "weird" placement of the shift lever. I assured him I was quite comfortable with it!)
A modest problem - as I was pumping the tires up for the first time, the tube burst, and the tire jumped the rim. First time that's happened to me.
I expect this was due to the tube being caught under the bead.

4130 is incredible

I've waited a solid month to post this review. This bike is brilliant - it works well for daily commuting and is comfortable for long rides. I've ridden this daily to work and it handles all road conditions like a boss. It's super light and really responsive. I've also taken it on two 10 mile rides and didn't have any issues, it's comfortable for long rides. If I had one knock it's the paint scheme order - I have the Americana and the bottom is all white so I need to wipe it down regularly to keep it nice and shiny. The downtube shifter is easy to use, just be careful you don't reach too far and stick your fingers into your wheel. I would absolutely recommend this bike (and State in general) to anyone looking for a bike.
